Founder

Nanziri, founder of Kawa Java, carefully chooses which beans she buys for her equally discriminating customers. She travels to Uganda throughout the year on buying missions to sample from new crops. She describes to the UCDA the precise blend of flavor and body she knows Kawa Java customers prefer and have come to expect from her. The UCDA refers selections from specific kawa or coffee farms that meet her standards. She tastes a selection to make sure it is just right. This attention to detail assures connoisseurs that they are purchasing the best and can count on that distinctive, unblended single-origin flavor with its floral notes and earthy aroma.

Much work went into preparing Nanziri for the life of an international entrepreneur. She graduated from Marquette University in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Class of 2001, with a concentration in Communication Studies, Sociology and Health Sciences. Marquette University gave her a full four-year scholarship for which she is very thankful. She next completed an MBA with a concentration in International Business from Argosy University in 2010.

In addition to her formal university education, as a young girl, Nanziri learned to plant and harvest coffee berries while working on her grandparent’s kawa farm. This intense, hands-on education contributed to her becoming an importer of Ugandan coffee and serves her well evaluating coffee and empathizing with the lives of the kawa farmers.
